Types of Aluminium Guttering
Aluminium guttering is available in two main systems: seamless and sectional. Both are made from aluminium, both are durable and low-maintenance — but they differ in how they are manufactured, what colours are available, and which situations each suits. This page explains the differences, covers the main profile shapes, and helps you choose the right option for your property.

At Bespoke Guttering, seamless aluminium guttering is our primary product — installed on approximately 99% of all our projects. A mobile roll-forming machine is transported to your property and each length of guttering is pressed on site to the exact dimensions of each elevation. The only connection points are at corners and end caps — there are no joints along the body of the gutter.
The result: no leaks from failed joints, no repainting, and a 30-year insurance-backed guarantee. Every seamless system we install is certified by the British Board of Agrément (BBA), with prices starting from £35 per metre including supply and installation.
Sectional aluminium guttering is the right choice when a specific RAL colour is required — for listed buildings, heritage properties, or large commercial developments with a defined colour specification. Contact us to discuss whether your required colour is achievable within your budget.
Which Aluminium Guttering Profile Is Right for My Property?
Ogee
Seamless standardThe most popular profile in the UK and the standard shape for all seamless aluminium guttering. Its curved S-shape suits both traditional and modern properties — enough character for an older building, clean and contemporary for a new build.
Half Round
Sectional aluminiumA classic semi-circular profile with a symmetrical appearance. Best suited to Victorian, Edwardian, and other period properties where a sympathetic architectural match is important.
Square Line
Sectional aluminiumA sharp, angular profile designed for new builds and properties with a modern or minimalist aesthetic. Carries more water than the half round of the same width — practical for larger roof areas or steeper pitches.
Deep Flow
Sectional aluminiumDeveloped for high-volume drainage: large roof areas, commercial properties, industrial buildings, or any property subject to significant rainfall. Available in 125mm and 150mm widths for higher flow capacity than standard domestic profiles.
What Colours Does Aluminium Guttering Come In?
Anthracite grey has become the dominant colour choice across new build and renovation projects throughout the UK, complementing contemporary cladding, render, and timber finishes. Jet black suits traditional and period properties. White is typically specified where fascias, soffits, or windows are white and a uniform roofline appearance is required.
If your project requires a specific RAL colour — for a listed building, a commercial specification, or to match an existing external finish — sectional aluminium is the right product. Contact us to confirm whether your preferred colour is achievable within your budget.
Is Aluminium Guttering Better Than UPVC?
Aluminium outlasts UPVC by two to three times, eliminates the joint failures that cause UPVC leaks, and carries a 30-year insurance-backed guarantee. When total 20-year ownership costs are compared — including UPVC replacement and joint repair — aluminium is comparable or cheaper.
